Rebecca Minkoff

An industry leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff’s playful and subtly edgy designs can be spotted around the world on young women and celebrities alike.

Rebecca Minkoff moved to New York city when she was only 18 years old to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer, a move she will not live to regret!
Rebecca’s first taste of popularity arrived when she designed a version of the “I Love New York” t-shirt, which appeared on The Tonight Show leading her to become an overnight sensation. A few years later Minkoff designed her first handbag, which was soon dubbed the “Morning After Bag” a.k.a the “M.A.B.” This iconic bag ensured Rebecca’s place within the industry and inspired her ‘downtown romantic’ -themed designs.
After four years of designing statement-making handbags and accessories with her trademark leathers, studs and edgy hardware, Rebecca returned to her roots of apparel design and introduced her first ready-to-wear collection in 2009.
Today, Rebecca Minkoff has developed into a global lifestyle brand with a wide range of accessories, footwear, apparel, handbags and jewelry as well as men’s leather goods under the label Ben Minkoff. The brand is distributed in over 900 stores worldwide, and on March 1, 2012, Rebecca opened her first free-standing boutique in Tokyo. In 2011, she won industry recognition when she was awarded the Breakthrough Designer Award from the Accessories Council.

Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2013 collection is a nod to iconic 60s and 70s American photographer Slim Aarons. Aarons is known for glamorously capturing socialites, jet-setters and celebrities while they lounged by the poolside. Minkoff takes inspiration from the decor, fashion and art of the era. Minkoff like Aarons is able to embrace the feelings that transcend the photos using them as her overarching theme of her collection. Sun-faded canopy stripes, tropical wallpapers and fringed hammocks are translated into duotone embroideries, sun-bleached floral prints, summer tweeds and fringed hems. Embracing Aaron’s trademark melange of faded and saturated hues, the collection hosts a palette of faded celadon and dove greys intermixed with rich hues of indigo, mustang reds and vivid greens. Minkoff mixes masculine shapes with feminine details and summer dresses allowing her innate style to shine against the decadence of her surroundings.
